The Land Rent Scheme paves the way for you to own a home sooner. It allows you to buy a newly built home, while renting the land. This dramatically reduces your upfront costs because you only need a loan for the value of the house. Land Rent is calculated at 2% of the “unimproved” value of your land (the value of the land before construction).
The benefit of Land Rent is that you can start renting your land under the Land Rent Scheme, and obtain a mortgage to purchase the land component at any stage.

CHC is an official provider of the ACT Government’s Land Rent Scheme.
When you purchase a CHC Land Rent property, you only start paying Land Rent once the property has settled and you have taken ownership. There are no Land Rent costs for you during construction. This provides a cost-saving to you and allows you to keep saving while your home is under construction.
