The HIA CSR ACT Southern NSW Housing Industry Awards were held at Canberra’s Convention Centre last night, with over 650 members of the property, housing and construction sector in attendance.
Affordable housing is in increasing demand according to CHC CEO, Kim Sinclair, who today spoke with WIN News about their latest development in Moncrieff.
Situated in Canberra’s North, Moncrieff is the latest property release from CHC offering homes under the Land Rent Scheme, aimed at assisting low to moderate income earners to achieve home ownership. Land Rent allows purchasers to buy a home and rent the land, with the option to convert to a traditional ownership arrangement at any time.
CHC CEO, Kim Sinclair explained that CHC’s approach to the delivery of land rent aims to alleviate the upfront costs associated with the scheme.
“What we’re doing is providing an option for purchases to do away with all that stress and hassle of setting up construction finance. We will take all the costs, the holding costs of developing the site and the purchaser only pays on settlement of the completed product.”
This provides a saving towards the costs that buyers may face before the settlement of their property. Meaning they don’t have to pay Land Rent until they receive the keys to their home.
“…a typical nine month construction, Land Rent on say $200,000 being the value of the land that would be saving them around about $3000 just in that process.”
One of the key objectives of CHC’s Moncrieff development is to bridge the gap between renting a property and home ownership. CHC has already received an overwhelming response from current CHC clients and the general public. The development is due to be released in March with further discussions being held for future Land Rent properties in Throsby and Taylor.
