A Home Designed for High Support Needs

A render of a lounge, dining and kitchen area

CHC has been busy building our new Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) development in Scullin, ACT. This purpose-built site is designed to provide long-term, secure, and high-quality homes for individuals with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.

Empowering Independence Through Design

Located at 1 Frewin Place, Scullin, this innovative development includes six separate homes, each with three bedrooms, built to High Physical Support (HPS) standards. These homes are tailored to meet the unique and evolving needs of tenants, promoting independence, dignity, and community inclusion.

The Scullin SDA Housing Initiative is more than just a housing project—it’s a transformative model for inclusive living. Here’s why it stands out:

🏠 Real Housing Choice

This initiative offers people with disability the opportunity to live in homes—not institutions. It provides genuine alternatives to traditional group homes, empowering individuals to choose where and how they live.

🌱 Promoting Independence

Each home is designed to support autonomy. Tenants can select their own support providers and live in a space tailored to their physical needs, fostering greater self-determination and confidence.

🧩 Inclusive Communities

By building accessible homes in suburban neighbourhoods like Scullin, this model helps integrate people with disability into the fabric of everyday community life—close to shops, services, and social opportunities.

🔒 Better Long-Term Outcomes

Secure, purpose-built housing means tenants can build lasting connections, access consistent support, and enjoy the stability that’s essential for wellbeing and growth.
