Program Details

The Strathnairn Women’s Housing Initiative is the first Build to Rent to Buy program of its kind in the ACT.  It is designed to directly address the widening affordability gap faced by working single women who have stable employment but are unable to save a sufficient deposit or meet strict lending requirements to buy their own home.

Eligibility for Strathnairn Women’s Initiative 

To apply, applicants must meet the specific programs eligibility requirements.

Eligibility requirements

  • Are an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Are a single woman aged 25–45 (with dependent children)
  • Don’t own property or have assets or savings that could already meet your housing  needs
  • Have lived in the ACT for at least 6 months or looking to relocate to the ACT
  • Can sustain a tenancy and demonstrate capacity to save
  • Meet the income eligibility requirements

Minimum and Maximum income guidelines for this program:

Single + 2 children $110,000         $176,000

Housing Allocation Guidelines

CHC allocates properties based on household size and composition. For example:

  • Single with no children → typically 1 bedroom
  • Single with one child → 2 bedrooms
  •  Larger families → 3 or 4 bedrooms

Pets

CHC supports responsible pet ownership. Pets may be approved in line with our Pet Guidelines.

A Pet Application Form must be submitted for any pet residing at the property, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, and similar animals.

CHC consent is required prior to keeping pets at the property.
