CHC will be hosting an info session on the Safehome program – an ACT Government Initiative in partnership with SupportLink, aimed at enhancing home security.

The program offers community education, the provision of home security assessments and minor modifications to eligible residences.

Date: Saturday, 22nd of July 2023

Time: 10 am to 12 pm

Location: DKB Hall (Common Ground Dickson) – 8 Hawdon Place in Dickson, ACT 2602.

CHC and HomeGround Real Estate Canberra will be hosting a Strength for Life program and Falls Risk Assessments info session on the 14th of July 2023.
Strength for Life is a progressive training program created to help people over the age of 50 (over 40 for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders) improve their physical strength, fitness and social connection.

Your tenancy passport

Rental Readiness was developed to help those who are struggling to enter the competitive rental market in Canberra.

The course was designed to teach all the steps for applicants to succeed and find their perfect home. The course will teach you where to start, how to get ready to apply, what to do when you are moving in, what to expect during your tenancy, how to get support, how to deal with disputes and what to do when it’s time to move out.

CHC will be hosting a new class on the 27th of June!

Gungaderra Homestead Stories is part of the 2023 Heritage Festival and CHC would like to invite all to this very special event.

Join us on a journey to the past and learn more about this heritage farm and residence from 1800.

 

Where: Gungaderra Homestead (Otway Street – Harrison ACT 2914)

When: 22nd of April (Saturday).

Tours will be available at 12 pm and 1 pm, and Devonshire tea will be served by CWA Gungahlin at the end of each tour.

Easter Colouring Competition

CHC and HomeGround Real Estate Canberra would like to invite your children to participate in the 2023 Colouring Competition, celebrating Easter.

 

Prize: 1 (one) x $ 50 movie voucher to each winner

Winners: Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places of each category (3 winners per category)

Competition Opens: 9 am, Tuesday, 28th March 2023

Competition Closes: 5 pm, Tuesday, 11th of April 2023

Winners will be notified by Friday 14th April 2023

The collection of prizes will be at CHC Office 224/29 Braybrooke Street, Bruce ACT 2617

 

How does it work?

There will be three competition categories open for entry and each category will use a different colouring sheet.

Please, pay attention to which colouring sheet corresponds to your child’s age, as follows:

The Ken Horsham Scholarship is an initiative to assist CHC and HomeGround affordable tenants to achieve their study goals.

The late Ken Horsham was a founding director of CHC and served in various roles from 1998 onwards, including Chair of the Board of Directors. Ken had a strong interest in progressing his community and a passion for social justice and it is in this spirit we are pleased to honour him with this scholarship.

 

How much is the scholarship?
The scholarship fund is $5,000 and each student can apply for a value up to, but not exceeding, $1,000 to further their education. Successful recipients may only receive one scholarship per year.
